Love is the pre-eminent Christian virtue - along with faith and hope as listed by Paul in 1 Corinthians 13. The Greek language is more expressive in terms of its vocabulary for the word 'love' - it has four words that express different kinds of love. The well known Christian author, C.S. Lewis, wrote a book on this - The Four Loves. Much of the material for this sermon is taken from that book.
